With the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU on January 1, 2021, the transport traffic faces new challenges, which, however, can be quickly overcome with good preparation. BTS Logistik GmbH will support you and take care of the necessary formalities so that your goods can reach their destination without any problems.

What basic requirements do you have to meet as a manufacturer?

EORI number

You need a valid EORI number (Economic Operators' Registration and Identification Number). This can be applied for at the German customs.

Customs declaration

You declare the goods to be cleared through the customs system and create the required export accompanying documents and the associated customs invoices. An additional CMR waybill must be created for each shipment.

Notification by the importer

At the same time, the importer of the goods in the UK must complete the customs and import declaration so that he can prepare the required import documents (GMR = General Movement Number) and forward them to his supplier (the respective manufacturer).

Documents to BTS

You send all required customs and export documents (export accompanying document with MRN number and the corresponding customs invoices) and additionally the import documents (GMR number) collected per transport to BTS. As soon as we have all documents complete, we take over the remaining steps from here until the border crossing.

What are the next steps?

To prevent unnecessary waiting times at the border, the customs documents must be complete. This also ensures that the tour itinerary and connecting tours as well as the planned delivery date are not affected by this.

If your goods are en route to the United Kingdoms in a consolidated shipment, the consignments will benefit of all Manufacturers on this tour benefit from full documentation and customs declaration.

Furthermore, any additional costs that may arise (e.g. for a return transport and the new delivery) are avoided. These mandatory requirements and procedures also apply to returns from the UK that BTS transports for you.
