What needs to be done?
The UK's withdrawal from the EU on January 1, 2021, presents new challenges for the transport sector, which can, however, be quickly overcome with thorough preparation. BTS Logistik GmbH offers its support, handling the necessary formalities to ensure your goods reach their destination smoothly.
What basic requirements must you, as a manufacturer, fulfill?
EORI Number
You require a valid EORI (Economic Operators' Registration and Identification) number, which can be applied for at German Customs.
Customs Declaration
You register the goods requiring customs clearance via the customs system and generate the necessary export accompanying documents and corresponding customs invoices. An additional CMR consignment note must be created for each shipment.
Declaration by the Importer
Simultaneously, the importer of the goods in Great Britain must complete the customs and import declaration, enabling them to generate the necessary import documents (GMR = General Movement Number) and forward them to their supplier (the respective manufacturer).
Documents to BTS
You send all required customs and export documents (export accompanying document with MRN number and corresponding customs invoices), along with the import documents (GMR number), compiled per transport to BTS. Once we have received all complete documentation, we will handle the remaining steps up to the border crossing.
What are the next steps?
To prevent unnecessary waiting times at the border, all customs documents must be complete. This also ensures that the tour schedule, subsequent tours, and the planned delivery date remain unaffected.
If your goods are part of a consolidated shipment to the United Kingdom, the consignments of all manufacturers on this tour will benefit from complete documentation and customs declaration.
Furthermore, this avoids any additional costs that may arise (e.g., for return transport and redelivery). These essential requirements and procedures also apply to returns from Great Britain transported by BTS on your behalf.
